This public webinar will explore how civil society, governments and the EU can work together to strengthen political accountability and collective action for universal health coverage (UHC). It will include a focus on global and country level tools and processes to strengthen commitment and action for strong, sustainable and equitable health systems. It will also underline the focus on health systems strengthening to achieve UHC in EU development policy. This includes EU support to country level policy dialogue through WHO’s flagship UHC Partnership, and to the UHC2030 multi-stakeholder global platform.
UHC is a cornerstone of human development. In essence, it means that all people can obtain the health services they need without suffering financial hardship. It is a political choice. The benefits of UHC go far beyond health and reach into all areas of human capital and development. In the current programming context, UHC links with all priorities of the new Commission, and is key to accomplish our mandate of eradicating poverty and fighting inequalities.
